SEISHUN
GAKUEN (SEIGAKU)
Seishun Gakuen or Seigaku is the main featured school in the series.
This particular private school is where Ryoma Echizen is enrolled.
Seigaku is known for its Boys Tennis Club since it has already produced
great tennis pros like Ryoma's father, Nanjirou. Within their tennis
fame is a rule in which freshmen could not become regular members until
after summer camp. Every month, Seigaku performs ranking matches among
their tennis members to determine the Bests among the Bests. Even with
great tennis players and Tensai (Genius) on their team, Seigaku is still
not exempted of loses. They had been beaten by Rikkai Dai in the
Nationals tournament the previous year and now they are going to get the
glory back on them.
In
their Ranking Tournament which is held every two months, the
tennis club members are sub-divided into four blocks namely
BLOCK A, BLOCK B, BLOCK C, and BLOCK D. Every block has six
members to compete and the first two players who will win in
the block will get to have a REGULAR SPOT in which they have
the privilege to wear that prestigious SEIGAKU JERSEY. Also
only second year and third year members are allowed to
compete. In Ryoma's case, it was Captain Tezuka's personal
decision to include him in the selections. Based on the anime,
Seigaku had two Official Ranking Match.
